Fifteen Or More Years of Practice
The certifications sit on top of more than 15 years of yoga, breathwork, somatic and embodiment practice. That order matters. The long practice came first, and the facilitation training was built onto it rather than substituted for it.
Julia's route into this work was personal before it was professional. She spent years looking for ways to feel more whole through yoga, meditation, study and therapy, and found that the deepest shifts did not happen in her mind. They happened in her body. Everything she now facilitates comes out of that finding.
Over that time she has guided 100 or more clients.
Four Modalities, Not One
Most practitioners are trained in a single modality and deliver it to everyone who books. Julia is qualified and practised across four, which is what allows a session to be matched to the person in front of her.
- Sound healing. Certified sound therapist. Works with Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, Koshi chimes and therapeutic percussion, including optional bowl-on-body vibration work
- Somatic work. Guided somatic awareness and body inquiry, nervous system regulation practices, grounding and integration
- Sadhu board. Certified Sadhu board practitioner. Intention setting, grounding preparation, fully guided nail standing, facilitation through resistance, sound integration
- Breathwork. Conscious breathwork, used inside the other three as the session requires
Trauma-Informed Facilitation
Trauma-informed facilitation is a stated method, not a label. In practice it means:
- No forced catharsis at any point
- No pushing anyone past a boundary for their own good
- The client controls the pace throughout
- An honest conversation before booking if you are dealing with something difficult right now, so that this is confirmed as the right support for you at this moment
Julia's own position on this is explicit. She does not believe in pushing people into catharsis or forcing breakthroughs. She believes transformation happens when the body finally feels safe enough to soften. If a session ends quieter than it started, that is a result rather than a shortfall.
Her Approach: Nervous System Science, Trauma-Informed Facilitation and Intuitive Presence
Julia's approach combines three things that are usually found separately.
Nervous system science. The reasoning behind body-based work is physiological. Understanding why you feel a certain way does not make it stop, because the nervous system does not speak in logic. It speaks in sensation, tension, breath and impulse. The body holds experiences the mind has tried to move on from, and until those are processed at the somatic level the patterns stay.
Trauma-informed facilitation. The safety structure described above, applied without exception.
Intuitive presence. Nothing is a template. There is no fixed playlist and no standard sequence. Julia reads what is actually happening in your body and builds the session in real time. Anyone can strike a bowl. What changes the experience is who is holding the room, and how steady they stay when something difficult surfaces.
What the Sadhu Board Qualification Means in Practice
Standing on a board of nails sounds extreme. It is not, when it is done right, and the difference is entirely in the facilitation.
Julia's Sadhu board work is fully guided, breath by breath and sensation by sensation, and then integrated with sound. It is not a solo endurance test. The sequence includes intention setting and emotional inquiry, grounding preparation and breathwork, nervous system regulation, the guided standing itself, facilitation through resistance, and sound healing integration.
It is intense, and it is not damaging. You control how long you stand and when you step off, always.
Languages and Location
Julia works in English, Spanish and Russian, which is directly relevant in a city with a large expat and international community. Following somatic instruction with your eyes closed is easier in your own language.
All work is in person, within Mexico City. Sessions take place either at your home, where Julia brings every instrument, or at a studio in the city centre. There are no online sessions, because vibration, presence and the ability to respond to your body in real time do not translate through a screen.
Scope of Practice
This is somatic and sound-based facilitation. It is not therapy. It works alongside therapy rather than replacing it, and many clients do both. Julia makes no medical or clinical claims about the work.
